Flower Boy Ramyun Shop – Episode 2 Recap

The second episode starts where the first ended: Eun-Bi gets a cold shower by realizing that Chi-Soo is not 31, but 19 years old. Chi-Soo walks off coolly with his buddies, who are curious about who the girl was, to what he answers: “She’s just some crap I stepped in yesterday.” Ouch. They ponder a bit about why she had called him Oppa, but Hyun-Woo says they should run, because they’re late. In the next second, one of the Buddies starts to run, but Chi-Soo shouts after him:

“Hey Kim Doo! Have you ever seen an owner running in his own company?! Must I run with all th other kids? Let’s keep the formation.” LOL. You have a formation in which you walk? OMG. Kim Doo, embarassed, adjusts himself and they continue walking. In Slow Motion. ‘Cause when flower boys are walking, you just HAVE TO use slow motion, right? It’s a principle since like Boys Over Flowers, which no one can leave out.

In the teacher’s room, the new student teachers are introduced, including Eun-Bi who is heavily dozing off, thinking about the previous converations with Chi-Soo. She agonizes in front of the teachers, hitting her head for what she was thinking. When the meeting is ended, Dong-Joo asks what’s wrong with her, but Eun-Bi is only interested in how many students are attending this school. Then she calculates: If the school has 1209 student, then the chances of meeting that HOT high schooler (she really said hot, LOL) is 1:1209. That’s not so bad, she concludes, but then again, she calculates: “There are 11 classes per grade, and I have 3 classes to 1:33? The chances of that high schooler being in my classes is 1:33…33…33…” She’s getting lost in the numbers when she sees the board on the wall for Grade 3 Class 3 (3-3). And because it can also look like 33, she claims that this is an unlucky number. And that class is where she has to teach. Haha.

Going into the room, she immediately begins checking whether the Hot pervert ringing bell sound is in there. To her luck, he is not in, but the camera stops at Hyun-Woo, wich is a bad omen. Knowing nothing, she happily introduces herself, getting a big WOAH and applause. She thinks to herself: “You cute things. Alright fine, I’ll make sure to be the fantasy of all you young things!” Be happy and dreamy until you can, LOL. As she continues her cutie-speech, the door opens, and Kim Doo enters: “Oh, it’s the crap!” Hehe, here we go~. And one after other, all the buddies come in, saying that same sentence, smiling. And finally, Chi-Soo comes in too, smiriking, and making Eun-Bi embarassed and uncomfortable.

In the teachers room, the student teachers are discussing about their classes, and ask Eun-Bi how hers is. She answers with a creepy look, like she haven’t sleep for a week: “My class? My class is…” and she remembers. As soon as Chi-Soo stepped into the room, the teacher pushed Eun-Bi away, and ran to him, sucking up. Chi-Soo is like a pricipal in the room, and goes toward the table to introduce himself (since he was in the US) while Eun-Bi tries to escape, but can’t.

Chi-Soo: “My name is Cha Chi-Soo and I transferred today. Don’t feel too intimidated by me. You guys can just call me Cha. Or…(looking at Eun-Bi) You could call me Oppa too.” Wink. HAHA.

Back to the teachers room, the student teachers are asking about her class, and whether the kids are cute. Eun-Bi: “They are so cute I want to bite them.” And from her face we can tell the here she means literally biting them. As she was demonstratingly biting her lips, it started bleeding. Ouch.

While nursing her wound, she asks Dong-Joo about Chi-Soo. She says that Chi-Soo is the only son of Cha Sung Group, so he should be called sir instead of kid. Surprised, Eun-Bi asks back: “The same Cha Sung that makes that Cha Coffee and Cha Donald Burgers?!” ROFL. Cha Donald Burgers?! Oh, writers, didn’t you have some better idea to name a burger? Or do you want to advertise MacDonald’s? Anyways, this was a fun thing. Dong-Joo calmly sais that this high school is belonging to them too, and that Chi-Soo is not coincidentally called Hwan Woong (In legends, he is the prince of the heavens, see more: http://www.clickasia.co.kr/about/m1.htm ). Angrily, Eun-Bi bites her lips again, and now two sides are bleeding. Haha.

In the break-time students come to Eun-Bi asking if she has a boyfriend. She says she hasn’t, and than they say hoe pretty she is, that one of them wants to date her and they run off. Eun-Bi amuses herself that kids will be kids, but a flashback interrupts. “Do you want to date me, Oppa?” Embarrassed againg, she bangs her head to the sweeper, when she notices Chi-Soo. She tries to convince herself that she shouldn’t care about him, because he’s a high schooler and she’s a teacher. But in the nd, she couldn’t resist calling after him. As they walk she amuses how much of a coincidence this is, meeting with him again in a high school. Chi-Soo agrees with her and she gos to the main point of the conversation. She thinks that there is a misunderstanding between them and that they should clear that as soon as possible. Chi-Soo immediately lists all the misconceptions she had, but Eun-Bi stops him. He secures her that she souldn’t worry about rumors ’cause he’s not a kid to do that. I like how she still thinks that he’s ridiculously cool.

After Chi-Soo leaving, Eun-Bi notices a man in the gym hall sleeping, and wakes him up, scared. However, they seem to know each other. He was a volleyball couch, but got fired and now he’s a temporary PE teacher in high school. He starts to blame Eun-Bi that it is all her fault, and that if for that incident, he wouldn’t be here. Eun-Bi doesn’t understand the connection but he yells that she was the volleyball’s Kim Yu-Na. She says that it’s a history and tries walking away, but the ex-coach tells her that she should come back if she’s already here, and she should see her father. Oooh, our heroine has a father-issue too. They always give the big father-issue to the heros, so I like that this time round it’s inversed.

The principal is having a talk with Chi-Soo. He wants to convince Chi-Soo not to drive his car to school, because it looks weird. Chi-Soo questions that even the Director couldn’t drive his own car, and explains that in a few years he will become the director anyway. So he keeps the car. Well done.

In the classroom, the head-teacher is asking whether the Crazy Rooster is absent today too. Lol, Crazy Rooster, nice name. We switch to an ended fighting scene with Crazy Rooster, who afterwards enjoys a meal in a shop with people seeming like his family. The guy who was beaten before comes back with his band, and the father-like man (let’s call him Ajusshi) asks Crazy Rooster to let them in. They finally sit at the same table, when the beated guy however, wants to leave, as Ajusshi brings out the ramyun. Seeing them leaving, his temper rises and yells at them that they should shove the food down their throats while he asks nicely. In the next second, they sit again at the table, eating. He also orders them around how they should eat ramyun properly. Ajusshi’s power. LOL.

At school, head-teacher is explaining who Crazy Rooster is to Eun-Bi. He’s the best fighter in school and he already misses for 4 days and that after classes, Eun-Bi has to go and get him back till tomorrow or he’ll take it out her review. He also advises her to start at the snack joint near the school, ’cause ther is his hide-out.

Arriving at the joint, Eun-Bi dwells on a particular table, on which is a scratch: “If it’s Eun-Bi, she can do it.” Oooh, she was here before. Meeting with Ajusshi, they seem pretty awkward. She asks about Crazy Rooster, whose name is actually Kim Ba Wool. Crazy Rooster sounds much better, right? Ajusshi asks back if that’s the first thing she should say to her father after 5 years. Oho, like this. They talk about the runaways, and his father says that they could be anybody, but he won’t chase them away when they want ramyun. She tells her feelings about him running this shop like this, even though her mother is not there. Father claims that her mother is right there, pointing at his heart. That makes Eun-Bi upset, saying: “That’s why you went to go cook ramyun in your mourning clothes as soon as the funeral was over?” Is she holding a grudge against him because of this? Hyaa. As she’s leaving, her father tells her to check out at the recycle area.

They are indeed there, Crazy Rooster preaching with the Bible. Matthew chapter 25 vers 34. As one of his followers explain. Lol. He says that they should go elsewhere to eat, because Eun Bi Snack Shack is a joint security area, JYP. Haha. The others laugh at him, and the guy corrects him: “It’s JSA you dumbass.”

As Crazy Rooster wants to beat him up again, Eun Bi grabs his hands:

“You used to pretend to be a hoodlum when you were little, but then you really did become one. What are you staring at, fool?” and hits his head, scaring the others. Crazy Rooster wants to resist, but when she’s stronger then him, he blurts out: “Eun-Bi noona?” Ooh, so you know each other too. I’m loving the relations between the characters.

He brings Eun-Bi yakult (mispronouncing yoghurt, lol) and they start talking:

Eun-Bi: “The Matchstick Gang is whatever…But what the hell is up with the Crazy Rooster?”

Crazy Rooster: “Why are you acting like an amateur? Ma Sung Girl High’s Yang Eun Bi known as the Scary Silver Eun-” but Eun-Bi shuts his mouth. “Let’s bury that.” HAHA. I want to see her gang-style.

He promises to go to school, since she’s asked, and compliment her being pretty and managing to look like an actual female human being. LOL. She’s upset and asks what he knows about women ata all, but he says that he even has a girlfriend. She hits his head and wants to know whether she’s prettier than his girlfriend. But as Crazy Rooster whines about his head hurting, she immediately apologizes: “I still can’t control this that well…” looking at her hand. Omg, I’ll die in laughter in this episode, I’m sure. Talking about his girlfriend, he starts blushing, and saying that she’s a white swan.

That’s when we switch to a ballet class and we see a girl dancing. Then suddenly Chi-Soo enters, and brings the girl away. Convincing the teacher with the pretty-line-wink combination.

They sit at the ominous Cha Coffee and Chi-Soo compliments her being pretty without make-up. She wonders whether he wants to ask her about having a boyfriend or not. Chi-Soo coolly says that he’s not curious at all, and that it doesn’t concern him. Finally he ask if she has li.gloss on her lips, ’cause they are shining, but she replies she hasn’t.

Next, Crazy Rooster is putting lip-gloss on her. He says that if she calls him Oppa, he can do anything for her, to which she cooly asks: “We are friends right? Chi-Soo is back. He was just sitting there. I’m going to date Chi-Soo now. Let’s just stay good friends.” Oh, poor Rooster. As soon as So-Yi leaves, he gets a call from Chi-Soo. Ohho, I smell some fight.

Meanwhile, Eun-Bi is preparing the tests for Crazy Rooster, since she managed to bring him back. She vents out her anger for working over-time on the desk, causing the printer to stop functioning. She sweet-talks the printer to come back, but it’s already dead so she wants to hide it. Lol.

On the corridor, she notices Chi-Soo and Rooster fighting in the classroom, which is more like Rooster attacking and Chi-Soo dodging while smiling. As they are talking, or yelling at each other, Rooster blurts out that he is dating So-Yi and Chi-Soo should stay away from her. He says that he should watch him in 3 years, when he will have achieved something and not to talk down on him ti which Chi-Soo arrogantly answers that in 3 years he won’t have tim to look at him. “You can run as hard as you want, but I’ll already be flying.” and starts explaining the difference between rich and poor on the table with hanja (Chinese letters used in Korean). But after writing up “rich”, he can’t continue. Lol, the dumb is teaching the dumber. But he’s still an asshole, and Eun-Bi and Rooster start yelling, one in the corridor, the other at Chi-Soo. Complete dark. We hear the voices of police signal, and Eun-Bi is hiding in the corridor with Mr. Printer.

At Daddy, secretary is reporting that Chi-Soo is safe, but there are two problems. Chi-Soo is taking a car to school, and Eun Bi Snack Shack won’t budge. Daddy says that the shop will budge soon, but he can’t take away the car from Chi-Soo, because then he won’t like Daddy anymore, and Daddy is scared when Chi-Soo dislikes him. Poor Daddy. But let me ask one thing. Why is he alwys sitting in the jacuzzi? I mean, he’s not young anymore for us to melt at the sight of his chest. I just don’t understand.

In front of the police station, as everybody is leaving, Chi-Soo stares at Eun-Bi and Rooster. But in the next second, So-Yi comes and Chi-Soo asks her to go with him. Rooster tries to stop her, but she rejects him and goes with Chi-Soo. In the car, Chi-Soo says that Rooster is the past, but if she wants to date him than she can go back to him. At the food stand, Eun-Bi comforts Rooster while eating and drinking.

The next morning Chi-Soo finds his car without weels and asks Daddy where they are. Daddy says that he doesn’t need to worry, ’cause he’s watching over them and that he should take a bus or a taxi, but Chi-Soo losts himself and starts crying and whining about it. Which is the exact thing that Eun-Bi is doing, being late for school. She tries catching a taxi, but after it’s not working, she jumps in front of one. Which has Chi-Soo in it too. They have some awkward conversation, and talk about Rooster and his girlfriend. Calmly, like this was the most natural thing in the world, Chi-Soo tells Eun-Bi that she permitted So-Yi to date both of them at the same time. Uff. But Eun-Bi can’t say anything since they’ve arrived, so he pulls Chi-Soo to the gym hall to have a talk.

She preaches him that a relationship is nothing like that and that love doesn’t come ang go in a persons heart. Chi-Soo then pushes her to the wall and asks what the date-me-confession was a few days ago. She says it was an accident, but Chi-Soo says it wasn’t an accident for him and touches her face. He points out how pretty her mole is again, and leans in for a kiss. And the school bells are ringing. He gives him a peck on her forehead, and says that feelings are easy and simple. It hasn’t been 2 days since her ex leaved her, but she’s already after him. “Feelings are the easiest thing in the world. It opens up once you close your eyes. And not a revolving door but like a merry-go-round…It’s a thing that can be enjoyed by many people happily.” Eun-Bi tries to push him backwards, but Chi-Soo is not letting her go and shouts: “So if you mess with me one more time! Then I’ll really! Will just date you!”

Author’s voice:

Wow, I had so much laughter in this episode, I couldn’t count it. I really like how they show the relations between the characters little by little, it makes me want to watch the next episode asap. The Ramyun Shop was also introduced, much for my pleasure. We can already see the funny future-episodes with the Eun-Bi’s dad and Rooster added to the plot, so now we only need the chef, to have some rivalry with Chi-Soo and make him grow up. The only thing I don’t understand is the relation between So-Yi and Chi-Soo, but I hope they will reveal it soon.
